As the temperature rises to a sweltering heat, so does the pressure to have a toned physique for the fast approaching bathing suit season.
Orangetheory Fitness Weight Challenge winners Elliott Brennan and Regina Lockard proved that achieving a bathing suit ready bod is right within reach, even with a hectic lifestyle.
Through improved eating habits and frequently attending Orangetheory Fitness sessions, Brennan lost 49 pounds and Lockard surpassed more than 3 percent of her projected weight loss goal in just six weeks.
Brennan leads a busy life with a full-time job and family, but he did not let that get in the way of pursuing a healthier lifestyle.
“The hardest thing was probably the hours, with three kids and a wife I had to do it when I’d otherwise be sleeping,” Brennan said.
Lockard has always been involved with working out and staying fit, but did not always receive the results she desired.
“I have worked out my whole life, but I just got old … its just like my body just started changing and this gave me the results I was looking for. I didn’t get them any other way,” Lockard said.
Brennan heard about the weight loss challenge from fellow Orangetheory Fitness members, while Lockard was encouraged to try it by her oldest son, an Orangetheory Fitness trainer in Illinois.
Orangetheory Fitness offered many different training sessions for the competitors and cultivated a positive and “nice environment,” Lockard said.
Lasting from Jan. 17 to Feb. 28, the challenge proved to be daunting, but with commitment and diligence, the challenge winners and fellow competitors were able to power through.
“At first it was really tiring and really hard, but in the end it was a matter of habit,” Brennan said.
Commitment and the satisfying feeling of progress were key motivators for Brennan’s endeavor.
“At first it was just the commitment… and then I started feeling better after a week or two. I started feeling more in shape and lighter,” Brennan said.
For Lockard, she found the new and exciting interval workouts to be both effective and motivating.
“It was crazy. I had never done interval training, so each time I left I felt better. I thought: I could do more, I can do better, I can be better… The workout itself motivated me,” Lockard said.
Both Weight Loss Challenge winners enjoyed the experience and still maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Orangetheory Fitness is efficient in aiding busy, yet determined individuals in getting ready for the upcoming summer season.
“I would recommend it to anybody,” Lockard said.
Orangetheory Fitness offers one free workout session for those who are interested in becoming a member.
