All-day programs may have filled up quickly but Pecos Community Center still has openings in general interest classes this summer.

Ahwatukee’s Pecos Community Center has available spots in babysitting certification, ballet, guitar, pom and cheer, robotics, Spanish, ceramics, tumbling, basketball, tennis and volleyball camp.

Classes are all less than $100 and are options to keep kids active and learning throughout the summer. Sessions are available at different times to be able to maneuver around summer trips and vacations.

Information on classes are listed on the city’s website, phoenix.gov/parks, under the “Classes and Programs” link. If there is an “add” button listed with the class, it’s still open for registration. Some sessions can be added the day before they start if slots are still available.

General interest classes usually meet once a week for about an hour for one or two months. There are still spots available in basketball and volleyball camps, which go for most of the day for one week during the summer.

For more options parents can take their kids to other community centers that may have more availability, even in all-day programs.

Registration is available online with any major credit card or in-person at any department community center or administrative office. Pecos Community Center is located at 17010 S. 48th St.
