Actress Linda Blair, best known for her role in the “Exorcist,” is appearing at the Rapture Horror Expo in Tempe this weekend.
Blair will be signing autographs on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 5-6, according to Anthony Anzaldo from Good Guy Entertainment, with all the proceeds going to her Linda Blair Worldheart Foundation, which was started in 2001 to help animals and prevent hunger.
Blair has been doing charity work for more than 30 years and is encouraging everyone to donate during these harsh economic times.
“Everyone can give some food for those who don’t have it,” Blair said, adding that donating is key for families to, “keep their dogs or cats.”
She believes that keeping animals together maintains the family unit.
Blair wants to, “get more people to donate to food banks for pets and people.”
Due to the lack of resources available to families to properly take care of their animals and other factors we are at the, “highest euthanasia rate ever in the United States,” Blair said, adding that the best way for anyone to help is to “look up some charities in your neighborhood and give to the food banks and shelters.”
The biggest obstacle facing Blair’s foundation moving forward is donations. Like every charity in America, she encourages people to be especially giving this fall and winter to help their communities.
“We need to keep donating in the community and heal our nation one community at a time,” Blair said.
The Rapture Horror Expo will be at the Double Tree by Hilton in Tempe, 2100 S. Priest Drive. Saturday’s event is from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday is from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. For more information, visit www.rapturehorrorexpo.com.
