Taste of Kyrene

At the inaugural year in 2011, the Taste of Kyrene brought in $45,000 for the Kyrene Foundation, which provides goods and services to district families in need.

The fourth annual Taste of Kyrene is right around the corner and the event is currently seeking members of the community the volunteer during the event.

There are 10 people on the Taste of Kyrene committee who organize the event, and for the night of the event they require nearly 35 to 45 volunteers, said event co-chair Shari Vogel.

“We have about 20 scheduled and we need about 20 more,” she said.

Each year the event seeks volunteers to assist with different activities of the night, ranging from cashiering, registration and selling tickets.

Volunteers will each work one shift, and after will able to enjoy the Taste of Kyrene event for free.

Taste of Kyrene originally began at Kyrene del Cielo Elementary School, and the school decided to take it the district toward assisting in a lager scale.

Taste of Kyrene will occur on Friday, Feb. 28 at the Foothills Golf Club, 2201 E. Clubhouse Drive from 7 to 10 p.m. The proceeds will go toward the Kyrene Foundation, which helps families around the district who are in need.

Individuals who are interested in being a volunteer can contact Vogel at shari_vogel@cox.net. Deadline to sign up as a volunteer is Wednesday, Feb. 19.
