A variety show of singing, dancing, acting and comedy will be hosted at Mountain View Lutheran Church in Ahwatukee today, May 10.
The AZ Inspirations senior group will be performing a two-hour choreographed show emceed by Danny Davis of KOY Radio.
Sponsored by the Cameo Foundation and the Ms. Senior Arizona Organization, proceeds from the show will help support a handful of domestic violence shelters in the Valley such as the Swan Butterfly House in Glendale, the New Life Center in Goodyear, and the Turnbow Foundation in Mesa.
“It’s a whole show put together,” said Herme Sherry, executive director of the Cameo Foundation.
Newly crowned Ms. Senior Arizona 2013, Lee Lotze, will also make an appearance.
The show is set up as a mock audition, where the performers will be trying out for Davis’ show. In the second act the performers “make it to the next round.”
The Cameo Foundation, which recently became a 501 (c)3 nonprofit organization in 2008, started fundraising for Alzheimer’s in its early years.
After realizing that there was a need for women and children of domestic abuse, they began reaching out to local shelters.
“Victims of domestic violence just don’t get the help they need,” said Sherry. “There aren’t enough shelters and the need is amazing. It’s rampant.”
Ten percent of the proceeds will also benefit Mountain View.
Mountain View Lutheran Church is located at 11002 S. 48th St. The show will begin at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 10. Tickets are available in advance at the church for $8 by calling (480) 496-5639, or for $10 at the door.
