The questions that doctors don’t have time to address in a quick visit are being answered one at a time with Dr. Courtney Cronin at Pecos Community Center in Ahwatukee Foothills.

Cronin, a naturopathic doctor who has an office in Tempe, developed the clinics after realizing she was answering a lot of the same questions from her patients.

“I find that a lot of times I say kind of the same things to all of my patients.” Cronin said. “We all have similar bad habits or things we struggle with. It just seemed so much easier if I could get a group of people together and just tell them all at once.”

So far, Cronin has addressed tips for successful weight loss, healthy grocery shopping on a budget and how to read food labels. On Sept. 29 she’ll be leading a clinic on the why and how of a vegetarian diet. In preparation for this clinic Cronin herself actually ate a vegetarian diet for months.

“I know more junk food vegetarians than you can shake a stick at,” she said. “Their hearts are coming from the right place, but our society isn’t really geared towards healthy vegetarian eating. If you just try to shoot from the hip on it it’s real easy to feel miserable.”

The clinics are one hour long and always contain time for questions and answers. Cronin said she doesn’t plan on the clinics being like a class where people sit and take notes. She likes to introduce the main topics and then discuss them together.

Saturday’s clinic will take place from 10 to 11 a.m. at Pecos Community Center, 17010 S. 48th St. It’s free and open to the public.

On Oct. 13, Cronin will host another clinic on healthy grocery shopping on a budget. More clinics are planned for November and December. For more information, visit www.desertwellnesscenter.com or call (480) 820-6695.
