The Ahwatukee Foothills News and the East Valley Tribune wrapped up their inaugural toy drive this week with a donation of approximately 650 toys and other items to Cardon Children’s Medical Center.

Over the span of four weeks, the newspapers gathered 650 toys, movies, games and clothes to give to Cardon to dispense to children during the holiday season. Among the donated items were 500 Beanie Babies given by Judy Krentz on behalf of her late husband, Ray. Three Greulich’s Automotive Service locations in the East Valley and the Jukebox Dance Studio in Gilbert also accepted items on behalf of the Tribune and Ahwatukee Foothills News.

The toy drive also featured a raffle for an iPad mini, which went to Mesa resident Karen Wenzel.
