Family and community keys to piano In June 2007, Desert Foothills United Methodist Church set out on a fundraising campaign, "Project 88," to raise $22,000 for a Petrov grand piano that would benefit the church and community. Project 88 was expected to last around two years, but has amazingly reached its goal after seven short months. Receiving overwhelming community support was Project 88's recent fundraiser, a guitar cabaret titled "Chris Dorsey and Friends." All performances were donated, including those by classical guitarist Chris Dorsey, flutist Andrea TenBarge and cellist Nelly Rocha, who make up the local tango group "Che Tango." Several young guitarists from the Dorsey Guitar Studio (hosted by the Summit School of Ahwatukee where Dorsey is band director) also made contributing performances. Donations totaled $11,200 after an unexpected $10,000 was graciously given by Ahwatukee Foothills resident Tim Crown. Members of Desert Foothills United Methodist wish to extend their utmost thanks to all those who volunteered their time and talent and to all those, especially in the community, who contributed financially to Project 88.
