The 30th annual Apache Leap Mining Festival in Superior, “Celebrating Women in Mining”, kicks off on Main St. Friday, Mar 16th, at 5 pm (and goes through Sunday the 18th) with a carnival, vendors, beer garden and Armour Gomez on stage.  Saturday begins with a home town parade, live entertainment, numerous speakers sharing history and stories about mining, Chihuahua races, Kid’s Zone with mining education for youngsters, handmade crafts market, guided hike,  grueling hard rock mining competition with a $2250 purse, dummy roping, mariachis and Samba dancers.  Finish off Saturday night with street dancing and music by Angie Gomez and Power Drive. Great fun and a terrific way to learn the many aspects of Copper mining in Arizona. Proudly presented by the Superior Chamber of Commerce with the support of many sponsors.    All free except carnival and vendors.  For details:  520-689-0200.
