Salcedo named to Komen Phoenix Board

Ahwatukee Foothills resident Luisa Salcedo of NetBillPro, LLC, will be treasurer for the 2010-11 board of directors of the Phoenix Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. She is new to the Komen board this year.

Salcedo will contribute extensive experience in IT and accounting as treasurer. She has more than 20 years of experience in accounting, finance and business management. She is involved with numerous non-profits such as Mujer Inc., where she mentors young Latinas to excel professionally, emotionally and spiritually; and Rosie's House, which provides music classes for underserved Phoenix youth.

The Phoenix Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure is responsible for providing guidance and leadership to staff and the more than 1,500 volunteers working together for a cure.

The signature fundraising and breast cancer awareness event, the 18th Annual Komen Phoenix Race for the Cure, will take place Sunday, Oct. 10, in the State Capitol District.

Curves offers smart workout

Curves of Ahwatukee is offering CurvesSmart personal coaching system, a new technology pioneered by Curves and powered by MyTrak. It offers a custom, individually tailored workout, moment to moment feedback and progress reports to keep members motivated while they work out.

Accredited Internal Medicine announces new ‘A.I.M. for Health and Fitness program'

Accredited Internal Medicine, P.C., in Ahwatukee Foothills has launched a new integrated medicine program for patients and the public. The A.I.M. for Health and Fitness program uses a new 1,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art exercise facility designed specifically for medical exercise.

The medical exercise program at Accredited Internal Medicine includes exercise treatment options specifically designed for each individual based on medical conditions, functional level, pain tolerance and other issues. Every program participant is evaluated and assessed, and the participant is eased into medical condition specific exercises, progressing at their own pace.

Three 2010 Glyph Awards, 4 finalist nods go to Five Star Publications

The Arizona Book Publishing Association (ABPA) awards for excellence in publishing went to three Five Star Publications titles, with four others garnering finalist designations during the association's recent 2010 Arizona Book Awards banquet. Any book produced by an Arizona publisher, written by an Arizona author, written about Arizona or set in Arizona was eligible to enter.

The three Five Star titles garnering 2010 Glyph Awards are Dave Pratt: Behind the Mic by Dave Pratt for the "Autobiography/Biography/Memoirs" category, Rattlesnake Rules by Conrad Storad for "Best Cover Design-Children/Young Adult" and Power's Garden by Dianne Ebertt Beeaff for "Literary Fiction."

East Valley Business Breakfast Group

Chiropractor collecting change for kids

Back In Line Family Chiropractic is teaming up with the Boys and Girls Club of the East Valley to collect spare change to help those in need. LeadZSmart business meetings on Wednesdays at chamber

A LeadZSmart Leads Group meets every Wednesday at the Ahwatukee Chamber of Commerce, 10235 S. 51st Street, Suite 185. A meet and greet starts at 7:30 a.m. and the meeting is from 8 to 9 a.m.

All who attend will have a 60-second intro at the beginning of the meeting, followed by a 10-minute member presentation. The meeting will also include a helpful lead referral lesson and group discussion.
