Language Synergy

Owner: Martha Silva

Address: 4809 E. Thistle Landing Drive, Suite 100

Information: www.languagesynergy.com; (480) 231-5649

Q: Where are you from and what did you do before opening your business?

A: I was born and raised in Mexico, with a Chinese background. Previously, I worked in the information systems industry; I worked as a software developer for an education K-12 software company and later in the cooperative industry.

Q: Why did you open your business in Ahwatukee Foothills?

A: I have been living in Ahwatukee for the last 17 years, and I think this is a great supportive community.

Q: How did you get the idea to open your business?

A: Spanish is my native language. One summer while on vacation in Mexico I was trained in teaching Spanish. Later, my friends asked me to teach them Spanish. We formed a group of friends here in Ahwatukee that wanted to learn Spanish for different reasons, like work, personal enrichment, moving and traveling to Central America, etc. The group was very successful, and I realized that I really enjoyed teaching the language and the culture. I decided to take this idea as a business model and offer my services to other people in the area.

Q: What type of merchandise/services do you sell?

A: I offer Spanish instruction classes for adults and children. I also offer corporate training, consulting, translations, presentations and any services related to the Spanish language.

Q: What does your business have in store for the future?

A: I will continue teaching in the community and expand to other areas. I also plan to offer more specialized courses for different market areas.

Q: Anything else you want the community to know about you or your business?

A: Language Synergy is involved in the community by offering conversation groups for adults and bi-lingual story times for children at no cost twice each month.
