Sometimes the bottom line isn’t the most important line, and Arizona Blinds, a Valleywide business that recognizes the importance of community involvement and voluntarism, has been named 2009 Business of the Year by the Ahwatukee Foothills Chamber of Commerce.

“We love their overall philosophy, and they’re involved with the local YMCA and the American Cancer Society,” chamber president Terri Kimble said. “They empower their employees, no matter what level the employee is, to be involved in the community.”

Arizona Blinds belongs to eight chambers of commerce Valleywide and donates time and resources to numerous nonprofit organizations.

“We believe that if we give back to the community it will come back to us tenfold,” Arizona Blinds general manager Wes McLaughlin said. “Each one of our salespeople handles their own area of the Valley for volunteer work and donations.”

Arizona Blinds is a full-service window covering dealer that offers products for residential and commercial properties. Despite the down economy the company is growing, which contributed to it being chosen for the honor from the chamber.

“Our business is 70 percent referrals and repeat customers, which shows that people trust us, and we’re a good place to go,” McLaughlin said. “We are constantly striving to give the best customer service and follow up in the industry.”
