Celebrity Martini Mixer moves to fall

The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Celebrity Martini Casino Night has moved to fall and will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, at Devil’s Martini North, 10825 N. Scottsdale Road, Scottsdale.

Celebrity bartenders from television, sports teams, Hollywood, radio and music scenes will be pouring martinis for guests. Test your luck and skills at the gaming tables and win great prizes through the auctions and raffles. Proceeds will benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Country music star hosts ‘Miles & Music for Kids’

On Nov. 21, award-winning singer/songwriter Dierks Bentley will host the “Miles & Music for Kids” celebrity motorcycle ride and concert benefiting Phoenix Children’s Hospital. The motorcycle tour begins at Buddy Stubbs Harley-Davidson, 13850 N. Cave Creek Road, with the last stop and concert taking place at Tempe Marketplace, 2000 E. Rio Salado Parkway. Bentley will perform along with other music talent, and all proceeds will benefit patient and family services at Phoenix Children’s Hospital.

The motorcycle ride registration starts at 1 p.m., doors open at Tempe Marketplace at 4 p.m., and the music starts at 5 p.m.

National Survivors of Suicide Day

National Survivors of Suicide Day will be observed Saturday, Nov. 21, in the Banner Corporate Center Mesa-Sim Lab Classroom, 525 W. Brown Road, Mesa. 

National Survivors of Suicide Day takes place every year on the Saturday before Thanksgiving. It includes a blend of emotional support and information about resources for healing. Survivors and mental health professionals will discuss their experiences and address questions.

Tee off to make wishes come true

The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Arizona along with Major League Baseball great Luis Gonzalez will host the 2009 Golf Classic on Nov. 23 at Whirlwind Golf Club at 5594 W. Wild Horse Pass Blvd. in Chandler. Be among an elite group of 260 players to participate in this event, which will help make wishes come true for children facing life-threatening illnesses.

Registration begins at 8 a.m., and the golfers tee off at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start. Lunch will be served at multiple grill stations and the day of golf ends with an exciting silent auction and cocktail reception.

Black Friday Botox Extravaganza

Derma Health Institute will host a Black Friday Botox Extravaganza from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 27, at 1345 E. Holiday classes at Pecos Community Center

The Pecos Community Center has added a “Holiday” session of Line Dance classes Dec. 1 to 15. Beginning Line Dance meets from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays (course number 61967), followed by Intermediate Line Dance from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays (course number 61968). This is the perfect session for those who just want to “try out” these classes.

Muscle Mania classes (number 61974) meet from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesdays Dec. 9 to 23 at the same location. After the cardio warm up, you will hit all the major muscle groups in this conditioning class while strengthening your core.

Holiday food drive, Angel Tree at Team Orthodontics

Dr. Ken Danyluk and Team Orthodontics’ annual food drive is under way and will continue through Dec. 17 at 4350 E. Ray Road, Building 4, Suite 121. All non-perishable food items will be donated to St. Vincent de Paul’s food bank.

Team Orthodontics is also partnering with the Prison Fellowship Angel Tree organization and two local churches. During the Christmas season, this program services over 15,500 children in Arizona. Team Orthodontics will be collecting gifts for 30 “Angels,” and each child will receive a fun gift and a much needed clothing item, each valued at $15 to $20 per gift.

Arts Engagement is an innovative arts program that actively engages adults with mild to moderate dementia and their care partners. Bike MS: Round Up Ride FY10

The Bike MS: Round Up Ride will be held March 27 and 28, 2010, starting at Heritage Park at 600 N. Main St. in Florence. Registration begins at 5:30 a.m., with a 7 a.m. start time.

This ride is the largest and best supported two-day, fully-catered cycling event in Arizona, attracting nearly 1,000 cyclists from across the country.

Proceeds will help end the devastating effects of Multiple Sclerosis.
