Football under a roof

The Arizona Football Academy will be having a “Huddle Up” football camp for athletes from 6 to 14 years old June 14 through 18 indoors at the Arizona Grande Resort Pavilion at 48th Street and Baseline Road.

Campers will be trained by former professional players and experienced coaches in all aspects of the game at all levels of experience. There will be afternoon competitions and a game at the end of the week.

The cost is $190 and includes a day at the Giant Oasis Water Park at the resort on the last day of the camp.

Altadeña hosting sports physicals

Altadeña Middle School will be conducting sports physicals at PEAK Physical Therapy, 15810 S. 48th St., Suite 105, from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, May 1.

The cost is $25 and 40 percent of that fee will be donated to the school’s Parent Teacher Organization.

The physicals will be conducted by the PEAK sports medicine team of Tony Harden and Larry Arnold, as well as Dr. Roger McCoy and Ian McLeod from University Sports Medicine and Family Care.

Clinic included in women’s lacrosse championships

A free lacrosse clinic for girls from kindergarten through ninth grade will be from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Saturday, May 8, at the Scottsdale Sports Complex, 8081 E. Princess Drive.

Registration begins at 8 a.m. and the clinic, hosted by AZ Girls Lacrosse (AZGL), is limited to the first 75 players who register and a free pair of lacrosse goggles and stick from the U.S. Lacrosse organization will be included in the registration.

Later that day the Women’s Division Intercollegiate Associates Division I and Division II national championship games will be held at the same complex.

A field of 16 Division I teams will open the tournament at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, May 5. The top eight Division II teams will begin play at the same time on Thursday, May 6.

The U.S. Lacrosse development program and Fast break Initiative have teams with the AZGL for the clinic.
