Ahwatukee Jazzercise moving, hosting parade kick-off
On April 3, Ahwatukee Jazzercise will move to a new location in the Bashas’ Shopping Center at 48th Street and Warner Road and will host a “Spring Fling” parade kick-off from 8 to 9 a.m.
First-time customers pay only $5 walk-in. Children 10 and older are welcome when accompanied by an adult 18 or older.
Beginning April 3, Ahwatukee Jazzercise’s new address will be 4855 E. Warner Road, Suites D-11 and D-12, located in the Center Pointe Dance Studio just south of Chuck E. Cheese and east of Taco Bell on the south side of the shopping center.

Hot Yoga Ahwatukee now open
Hot Yoga has opened at 4025 E. Chandler Blvd., Suite 22 (in the Trader Joe’s and Safeway shopping center). Classes began March 27.
Hot Yoga is a style of Hatha Yoga, the physical form of yoga designed to bring balance and well-being into your life. Classes are practiced in a heated room to stretch and strengthen various areas of the body. The movements reach deep into the tissue, relieve tension and stress, revitalize and assist in overcoming many physical and emotional problems.
Extreme Bodyshaping opens for business
Lance Farrell, owner/president, and local franchise owner Randy Edwards have opened Arizona’s first Extreme Bodyshaping (XB) gym at 4939 W. Ray Road, Suite 9, Chandler.
Farrell has taken the tenets of Tae Kwon Do to develop a program that incorporates group resistance training, fitness kickboxing and nutrition to inspire people of all shapes, sizes, and ages to transform their bodies.

Woda named director of sales, marketing at Hawthorn Court
Senior Resource Group has announced the appointment of Kimberly Woda as director of sales and marketing at Hawthorn Court Senior Living Community, the company’s award-winning memory care community in Ahwatukee Foothills.
Prior to joining Hawthorn Court, Woda held several senior level positions within the senior care industry. She was formerly the eldercare advisor for Assisted Living Locators, the sales and marketing manager at Brookdale Senior Living and the admissions manager for Banner Hospice Mesa.
Woda is trained as an RTA Hospice volunteer and is a member of the Alzheimer’s Association.

Boys & Girls Clubs, Jersey Mike’s team up to help local kids
Jersey Mike’s Subs restaurants in Phoenix and surrounding communities are joining forces in a month-long campaign to benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metropolitan Phoenix (BGCMP). To support the organization, Jersey Mike’s stores will donate $1 for every No. 13 sub (the Original Italian) sold throughout the month of April.
In addition, 10,000 free sub coupons will be distributed throughout the community and at BGCMP events during the month of April. For each card redeemed, Jersey Mike’s will donate $1 to the cause.

Tuesday morning mixers are from 8 to 9 a.m. on the second Tuesday of each month at a local business. Dates needing hosts are July 13, Aug. 10, Sept. 14, Oct. 12, Nov. 9 and Dec. 14. Wednesday evening mixers are from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on the third Wednesday of each month, also at local businesses. Open dates are June 16, July 21, Aug. 18, Oct. 20 and Nov. 17.

$20K office renovation up for grabs in contest for nonprofit leaders
Donations to nonprofits may be down, but local office furniture dealer Goodmans Interior Structures remains committed to the community and is again giving away a $20,000 office renovation to a nonprofit leader in Maricopa County and another in Pima County.
Nominations for the fifth annual Goodmans Eye for the Good Guy contest will be accepted through April 16 at www.GoodmansGoodGuy.com.
To be eligible, nominees must be the executive director, president, CEO or other top executive of a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in Maricopa or Pima counties. Finalists will be selected based on the nominee’s application of good business principles, demonstration of excellence in leadership, organizational influence on the community and populations served and need for a more efficient workspace.
Ten finalists will be announced in May, and the public will have the opportunity to vote online for the 2010 “Good Guys” in each market. The winners, to be announced in June, will be selected through a combination of online public voting and an assessment by a panel of local judges.
Winners will receive a renovated workspace that supports individual work style, improves productivity and communicates the organization’s mission. The community is encouraged to submit multiple nominations for the same candidate.
