Mission Africa bowling event raises more than $6K

Functional Performance Centers sponsored a Bowl-a-Rama event last weekend at Kyrene Lanes in Chandler to benefit Mission Africa, a multi-church, multi-denomination effort to help change an African community. More than 125 people came out to bowl and socialize, raising over $7,000 to help send medical supplies to a clinic in Sapele, Nigeria.

Duo to present ‘Shanks for the Memories’

Ahwatukee Foothills resident Bob Pasch and Lynn “Win” Roberts will present “Shanks for the Memories,” a golf tribute to Bing Crosby and Bob Hope, on Friday, Oct. 23, at the Foothills Golf Club, 2201 E. Clubhouse Drive.

Pasch is known as the most outstanding Bing Crosby tribute artist in the industry. He has won multiple awards and delighted audiences throughout the United States and Australia with his good, clean humor and remarkable likeness in sound, appearance and mannerisms of the great master, Bing Crosby.

Roberts is recognized as the most outstanding Bob Hope impersonator in the industry. He developed a variety show in 1964 and began to impersonate not only Hope but also Red Skelton, Jack Benny and Jimmy Durante. He also has won numerous awards and has performed throughout the country as well as in commercials, on radio, television and industry programs.

The evening tees off with a cash bar from 6 to 7 p.m., followed by a Front Nine dinner at 7 p.m. and the Back Nine show. The show centers around golf, music and humor. Door prizes will also be given away.

Rehn, Ziolko planning wedding

Ashley Rehn and Tony Ziolko are engaged to be married, and the wedding will take place May 22, 2010 in Phoenix.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Todd and Wendi Rehn of Ahwatukee Foothills. She is a 2007 graduate of Desert Vista High School and is currently a student at Anderson University in Indiana.

The bridegroom-to-be is the son of Brenda Rishel-Ziolko of DuBois, Penn. He is a 2006 graduate of DuBois Senior High School and is currently student at Pennsylvania State University.

 

George, Kubany announce engagement

Michaela Joyce George and Stephen Levi Kubany became engaged Aug. 22 on a boat at Woods Canyon Lake. They are planning a fall 2011 wedding. The diamond in her ring was handed down by Stephen’s mother.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Tim and Debbie George and Sandy Lewis of Ahwatukee Foothills, and the bridegroom-to-be is the son of Milan and Shelley Kubany of Chandler.

Michaela and Stephen are 2008 graduates of Tempe Corona del Sol High School.
