Hispanic Chamber hosting Black & White Ball, Business Awards

The Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (AZHCC) and Qwest Communications will present the 52nd Annual Black & White Ball and Business Awards at 6 p.m. April 17 at the Sheraton Phoenix Downtown.

The event is the premiere social gathering for Arizona’s Latino community and is also the AZHCC’s biggest annual fundraiser. This year’s theme is “Bailando al Exito” (Dancing Toward Success). The event features the chamber’s business awards ceremony, and the AZHCC will also honor an Arizona Legacy, former Arizona Gov. Raul H. Castro.

Guests will also enjoy live musical entertainment, a ballroom dance competition and a live performance by the Tejano group, La Familia Band. Individual tickets are $300 for members and $350 for non-members.

Administrative Professionals Day Conference

The Scottsdale Chapter of International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP) is sponsoring its third annual Administrative Professionals Day Conference on Tuesday, April 20, at Chaparral Suites Resort in Scottsdale.

LeadZSmart business meetings on Wednesdays at chamber

A LeadZSmart Leads Group meets every Wednesday at the Ahwatukee Chamber of Commerce, 10235 S. 51st St., Suite 185. A meet and greet starts at 7:30 a.m. and the meeting is from 8 to 9 a.m.

All who attend will have a 60-second intro at the beginning of the meeting, followed by a 10-minute member presentation. The meeting will also include a helpful lead referral lesson and group discussion.

Hosting an event for the Ahwatukee Foothills Chamber of Commerce is a way to get your business noticed.

Tuesday morning mixers are from 8 to 9 a.m. on the second Tuesday of each month at a local business. Dates needing hosts are July 13, Aug. 10, Sept. 14, Oct. 12, Nov. 9 and Dec. 14. Wednesday evening mixers are from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on the third Wednesday of each month, also at local businesses. Open dates are June 16, July 21, Aug. 18, Oct. 20 and Nov. 17.

AZSA presents free webinar about lien law changes

The Arizona Self-Storage Association (AZSA) will host a live webinar at 1 p.m. April 27 focusing on changes made to the lien law in 2009. The hour-long webinar, “Arizona State Legal Update: Lien Law Changes 2009,” will be presented by Richard Marmor, the leading Arizona authority on the subject and Chair of the AZSA Legal and Legislative Committee.

The webinar will highlight recent changes to the lien law such as the end of certified mail notices and legal advertising, how these changes impact owners and operators and the new tools AZSA has introduced to assist Arizona storage operators. A 15-minute question and answer session will immediately follow the presentation.

Arizona State Credit Union receives awards for helping the community

Arizona State Credit Union has received two Communitas Awards for making a difference in their community in an ethical way. The Communitas Awards are presented by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals to recognize companies, organizations or individuals that donate time, effort or money to improve the communities in which they live or work.

The two awards are:

• The Excellence in Community Service award, for creating HelpingAZ.com, an online community forum building a stronger community through job postings, tips and resources and an online discussion board. In its first year, it has grown to over 16,800 online members.

• The Excellence in Social Responsibility award for the above-and-beyond efforts of Arizona State Credit Union Associate, Christina Maulfair, who provided outstanding member service to a Credit Union member who was facing a life threatening challenge that was immediately addressed and successfully resolved.

Chamber offers new programs to build businesses

A new business leads group, Wednesday Business Leaders, meets from 8 to 9 a.m. Wednesday mornings at the Ahwatukee Foothills Chamber of Commerce offices, 10235 S. 51st St., Suite 185. Attendees must RSVP with their business category to info@AhwatukeeChamber.com.

A new round table discussion and springboard called Social Media Toolkit will gather from noon to 1 p.m. on the second and fourth Tuesdays at the chamber offices. The event will encompass social media ideas, what works, what doesn’t and a chance to hear from professionals who use it every day.
