IKEA has several in-store events planned for the month of October. IKEA is located at 2110 W. IKEA Way in Tempe.


• Food University Event


Aspiring home cooks will get to learn delicious recipes and cooking basics from culinary experts in a comfortable atmosphere for free. Watch Chef Claudine Pepin prepare and entertain at a fun-filled evening of learning and cooking during the Food University presented by Family Circle event at IKEA Tempe on Wednesday, Oct. 28, from 6 to 8 p.m.


• Shred-a-thon


IKEA Tempe is hosting a document shredding event in collaboration with AZ Docushred on Monday, Oct. 12, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the parking lot. Customers can drop off documents, up to eight standard size file boxes, for $2 per box. AZ Docushred will take all items and have them shredded off-site at a secure facility.


• Book Drive


Now through Oct. 31, IKEA Tempe is holding a book drive for the Friends of the Tempe Public Library, in honor of IKEA’s BILLY bookcase turning 30!  Drop off new or gently-used books for kids and young adults. Bin is located at the exit doors.


• BILLY Turns 30!


IKEA’s iconic BILLY bookcase has become a part of many people’s life at home and the Tempe store will be celebrating its 30th birthday with some in-store book readings for children, hosted by the Tempe Public Library, on Oct. 20 and 21 at 4 p.m. in the IKEA Tempe Restaurant.


• Free Breakfast


From Oct. 10 to 12, stop into IKEA Tempe until 10:30 a.m. for a free breakfast, which includes a small breakfast plate and a cup of coffee ($1.98 value).


• Kids Eat Free


Kids eat free in the IKEA Tempe Restaurant from Oct. 19 to 25 – choose any three kid-sized items to create a meal. No adult purchase necessary. Kids 12 and under only – a $2.49 value.


• Teacher Appreciation Night and Free Classroom Organizing Class


In partnership with nonprofit, Treasures 4 Teachers, IKEA Tempe is hosting a free classroom organizing class on Wednesday, Oct. 21 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the IKEA Tempe Restaurant. Free food and drinks will be provided as well as great product tips. Teachers can register by calling (480) 785-8209, ext. 1336 – seats are limited.


• Halloween Treats For Kids


KIDS: Stop by IKEA Tempe in your costume on Halloween night, Saturday, Oct. 31, and you’ll be rewarded with a free gift (value of $14.99) for showing your special outfit. Valid from 6 to 8 p.m. for children 7 and under.


• Free Kitchen Organizing Class


Get free advice on how to better organize your kitchen this fall with IKEA products with tips from Crystal Schmahl, professional organizer with Action Assistants, at IKEA Tempe on Saturday, Oct. 3 from 9 to 11 a.m. in the Showroom entrance.


• Kitchen Clinics


Come meet with representatives from Great Spaces, one of IKEA Tempe’s certified kitchen installers, for free advice on kitchen remodeling within the kitchens department in October on Thursdays, Oct. 8 and 22, at 7 p.m.; Saturdays, Oct. 17 and 31 at 10 a.m.
