James Austin Culver, 51, passed away Oct. 17 at St. Joseph’s Hospital after a long illness.

He was born in Houston, Texas, on Jan. 29, 1958 and married his high school sweetheart on Feb. 19, 1977. He retired after 25 years of service from Hisco, where he was a vice president of operations. James was a loving husband to Nancy for 32 years.

James was cherished by his children, Leslie (Jason) Kwasny, James (Nicole) Culver and Chris Culver, and an adored papa to Kaitlyn and Alexis Kwasny and Kassidy and Tyler Culver. He is also survived by his mother, Barbara Culver; sisters, Nancy LaGrappe and Mary Liles; and brothers, Dexter, Michael and Jeffery Culver. He is further survived by many special nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. Oct. 24 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 3550 E. Knox Road. Please join us for a celebration of James’ life after the service, hosted at the home of Phil Thornton, 3805 E. Sequoia Trail. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, James’ favorite charity.
