Brian Dickson passes away

Brian James Dickson, 37, passed away Jan. 9 after a courageous battle with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS).

Brian was born in the state of Washington and had lived in Ahwatukee Foothills for seven years. He worked in the technology field for 11 years and ended his career in the Technology Department for Seacret Spa, LLC.

He was one of two children born to James Dickson and the late Carolyn Burke. He was the beloved husband of Tanya Dickson for more than 13 years. Brian was a wonderful father to his son Kaleb Dickson. He will forever be remembered by his devoted sister Shana Chose, her family Rich, Holi and Sam, his stepfather Steve Burke and his uncle and aunt Tim and Terry Keuscher. He also leaves behind Tanya’s family, mother Kit Turner, father Neil Turner, brother-in-law David Turner, sister-in-law Robyn Giardina and her family, Damian, Jackson and Tyler, cousin and wife Mike and Cari Waters, along with countless other friends and family.

Brian was an exceptional father, husband and friend, and will be missed greatly by all who knew him. Our world is a little less bright without his beautiful smile.

The family sends a heartfelt thank you to friends at Mountain Park Community Church, Kyrene de la Estrella Elementary School, Kyrene School District, Discover the World Marketing, The ALS Association, Hospice of the Valley, Seacret Spa and countless friends and neighbors for their incredible support and help. Brian’s wishes were not to have a memorial or service.

Donations may be made to the Kaleb Dickson College Fund through any Wells Fargo Bank, The ALS Association or to Hospice of the Valley.

Nancy Bond passes away

Ahwatukee Foothills resident Nancy J. Bond was born Sept. 11, 1941, in Chicago, Ill., the first of three children to William and Laura McAvoy. She passed away Jan. 12.

Nancy married Joe Bond on Feb. 3, 1979, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Mt. Prospect, Ill. She worked at Mt. Prospect State Bank. The couple moved to Arizona in 1979. She worked for the All Saints Catholic Newman Center for more than 15 years and then went to work for Mountain View Lutheran Church for many years. She loved working with people, always smiling and laughing and making an imprint on everyone she met.

Nancy learned to love the Arizona heat. The family started traveling, camping and boating all over Arizona and the western states. The family enjoyed great times together. Nancy was always very active in church, singing there. She joined the Sweet Adelines ... singing her heart out ... which is something she loved to do! She gained many friendships and amazing times through that. She enjoyed swimming in the family pool and playing golf, but what she really loved was getting together with family and friends and throwing a party. Nancy loved to organize events and really laugh. She loved nothing more than being with her family. She was proud of her family and enjoyed togetherness. You could always rely on her to be there to lift you up. She taught many through her kindness and love of life how to be a better person.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Joe Bond and her sister Pat Gallagher. She is survived by her son Vincent J. Hartmann, daughters Suzann M. Thomas and Mary J. Hartmann and brother Dan (Marnie) McAvoy. Also her grandchildren Andy Lennemann; Megan, Adam and Lisa Hartmann; Rebecca and Michele Hartmann; Joe and Samantha Thomas; Matt and Mike Bond; and Tyler and Nathan Mueller and great-grandchildren Grace and Ryan Mueller and Lizzy and Allison Mueller.

We will miss you, Nancy, the best friend you could have; Mommers, the best mother you could ask for; and Grandma, the funniest person to hang around with! You never left anyone without a smile and a laugh in their heart. We love you.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 16, at Mountain View Lutheran Church, 11002 S. 48th St.
