Wolf earns Eagle Scout rank

Ahwatukee Foothills resident Wade Wolf, 14, has earned the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest honor in the Boy Scouts of America.

Wolf began scouting as a Cub Scout with Pack 879 at Kyrene de los Cerritos Elementary School and earned his Arrow of Light when he was 10. He then bridged into Boy Scout Troop 118 at St. Benedict’s Church, and his Eagle Project consisted of sending care packages to troops in Iraq, specifically Unit 070, 3-58th at Camp Basrah.

Wolf has earned more than 30 merit badges and has participated in many experiences, including a 50-mile hike into the Grand Canyon and a 100-mile hike at New Mexico’s Philmont Scout Ranch. He will participate in the National Jamboree next summer, which consists of visiting some of the country’s most significant landmarks over the course of three weeks.

He is the son of Tim and Suzanne Wolf. He is a freshman at Desert Vista High School and is active in the Junior ROTC program.

Miller named Chairman of Legislative District 20

Ahwatukee Foothills resident Anthony Miller is the newly elected Legislative District 20 chairman. He becomes the first African-American elected as LD chairman in Arizona.

At a recent meeting of Legislative District 20, precinct committeemen overwhelmingly elected Miller as their new chairman. Miller pledged to encourage Republicans to become more active in their local communities and will empower local Republican organizations to do the same.

Miller’s speaking style and experience as a conservative African-American and wealth of campaign experience makes him a sought after communicator and political coordinator. During his term as chairman of precinct committeeman recruitment, he increased the number of PCs by 75 percent and has turned many college Republicans into PCs in their respective districts throughout the state. With his guidance and mentorship, many of them have become more active in their communities and now serve on various Arizona boards and commissions.

Miller serves as director of field operations for Friends of John McCain, as well as state committeeman within the Arizona Republican Party. He also sits on the board of directors for Arizona Health Facilities Authority, the Ahwatukee Foothills Planning Committee and is a member of the National Rifle Association.
