Improv Jam Sessions turning Monti’s into cool hangout
Monti’s Back Door, located within Monti’s La Casa Vieja at 100 S. Mill Ave. in Tempe, is the place to be for jazz musicians and listeners on Sunday nights. Performances begin at 7 p.m. with the Jeff Libman Trio getting things in gear. The group then serves as house band as others join the lineup, cooking up steamy jazz until 9:30 p.m. and sometimes longer. The hot improvs are produced by JAMN Jazz Productions with the support of Jazz in AZ, the nonprofit organization that does so much to support music education in the Valley.
Tickets for the Jazz Improv Jam Sessions are $5 and available at the door, cash only. Student discount tickets are $3. There is no charge for participating musicians. Proceeds from ticket sales will support the program’s ongoing efforts to bring the best of local jazz to downtown Tempe, as well as present Sunday Night Jazz Improv Jam Sessions at Monti’s.
All experienced jazz improvisers – pros, out-of-towners and jazz students – are invited to come and sign up with Jeff. Call (480) 529-1392 for more information or get details at www.SouthwestArtistManagement.com/tempejazz.html.
