Here: SNAP presenting Broadway Cafe

TRANSITIONS for the Developmentally Disabled and its non-profit wing “Sharing Smiles” works with young men and women who have various disabilities. The staff and special needs participants have been busy for months in preparation for the first SNAP (Special Needs Actors Production) of Broadway Cafe, from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, March 20, at Mountain Park Community Church, 2408 E. Near: Another season of ‘Storytelling & Song’ concluding

The “Storytelling & Song” program at the Sheraton Wild Horse Pass Resort concludes its fifth season on Friday, March 19, with a special closing blessing led by Loren Russell, a frequent storyteller and the grandson of Arizona Women’s Hall of Fame member Anna Moore Shaw.

The program, designed to share the ancient cultures of the Pima and Maricopa people, continues to be a favorite of resort guests year-round but must end by the first day of spring due to cultural customs. Winter is the only season where storytelling is permitted among the Pima and Maricopa people.

The featured storytellers are enrolled members of the Gila River Indian Community who share a combination of ancient legends based on desert wildlife and their experiences growing up on the surrounding Tribal lands.

“Storytelling & Song” takes place Tuesday through Saturday evenings, is open and complimentary to all resort and restaurant guests and is appropriate for all ages. The last traditional storytelling of this season will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 19, at 5594 W. Wild Horse Blvd., Chandler.

For overnight or dining reservations, call (602) 225-0100. For additional resort information, visit www.wildhorsepassresort.com.
