Living out a longtime dream has been a complete success for the owners of Perfect Pear Bistro in Ahwatukee Foothills.

The small restaurant only opened a few months ago but already they say they’ve had enough business to keep the lights on, and they’re grateful.

“We’re happy with the results,” said Chris Hove, co-owner of Perfect Pear. “Having the ability to pay the bills because you have the volume is a good feeling. I’ve worked at other restaurants where you’re struggling to pay bills and it makes for more stressful days.”

Chris and his wife, Laura, have several years of experience working in the food industry. Both have managed and helped open well-known restaurants across the Valley. This is the first restaurant they’ve opened on their own.

“I think it’s a big victory for us because we put a lot of hard work and heart into this,” Chris said. “To get some recognition is always nice. It validates what we’ve been doing here. We opened a new business with a brand new menu and you hope everything will be a booming success, but you have no idea how the general public will respond to it. It’s really exciting.”

The secret to their success, the couple said, is great customer service.

“One of us is here every day and we feel that that’s very important,” Laura said. “Our staff is amazing. They come in with a smile on their face and give us their all every day. We have a very small staff so they all work a lot, but they always come in and do their best.”

The restaurant is open from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and closes at 8 p.m. Sunday and Monday. Recently they’ve added brunch on the weekends.

The couple said they’ve been testing new menu items in the time they’ve been open and plan to roll out a completely new menu in the next few weeks to keep fresh options for their customers. They also have plans to revamp their happy hour, including lowering the costs for some of those happy hour specials.
