One of the largest Scrabble tournaments in the western part of the U.S. will take place Friday, Feb. 18 through Monday, Feb. 21 at the Grace Inn, 10831 S. 51st St., in the ballroom. Close to $10,000 will be awarded in prize money at the event. Tournament viewing times are Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Monday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Free admission. Near: Charity PetWalk and adoption event
On Sunday, Feb. 20 at 9 a.m. registration and activities will begin for the PetWalk and adoption event at Tempe Town Lake, 620 N. Mill Ave. The walk begins at 10 a.m. and the adoption event will start at 10:30 a.m. The event will help raise money for local animal-welfare agencies that help homeless pets in Arizona.
