Here: Ahwatukee Memorial Bowl football game tonight
Ahwatukee Foothills high schools, Mountain Pointe and Desert Vista, will honor heroes of our country during this year's annual rivalry football game at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9 at Mountain Pointe High School, 4201 E. Knox Road. A pre-game and half-time show will take place to commemorate the 10-year anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks on the U.S.
Near: Big Bugs at Desert Botanical Garden starting Monday
David Rogers' Big Bugs display begins at the Desert Botanical Garden, 1201 N. Galvin Parkway in Phoenix, on Monday, Sept. 12 through Jan. 1. It will provide a look at insect predators, pollinators and beneficial critters. Rogers has created these 11 creatures from fallen or found wood, cut saplings, twigs, raw branches, twine, bark and other natural materials. The sculptures weigh from 300 to 1,200 pounds and range from 7 feet to 25 feet long. The display is open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
