Here: MPHS Wind Ensemble and AF Concert Band join together

The Mountain Pointe High School Wind Ensemble and the Ahwatukee Foothills Concert Band are doing a joint concert at MPHS on Thursday, Feb. 17 at 7 p.m. The purpose of the concert is to illustrate the joys of making music at all ages. AFCB seeks to support music education in a variety of ways. Mountain Pointe's music program seeks to support the surrounding community by offering quality music in concert venues and performing services that benefit the community. The MidFirst band coin van will be available that night to take coin donations to benefit both programs. Tickets are $5.

On Saturday, Feb. 19 at 7:30 p.m., rock icon and two-time Grammy award winner Rita Coolidge performs at the Chandler Center for the Arts, 250 N. Arizona Ave. Tickets are $26, $32 and $38. Most music fans have a favorite song recorded by Rita Coolidge, like "Fever," "We're All Alone," "One Fine Day," "(Your Love Has Lifted Me) Higher & Higher" and so many other memorable tracks that topped the charts from the 1970s onward.
