HERE: Free Comic Book Day at Ironwood Library

People are encouraged to wear superhero or villain costumes to the library, get a free comic (while supplies last), make a superhero button, and contribute to a community comic book. It is an all-day, drop-in event on Saturday, May 3 at Ironwood Library, 4333 E. Chandler Blvd.

NEAR: Cinco de Mayo celebration May 3

Join The Children’s Home Project in celebrating Cinco de Mayo by attending the first Cinco de Mayo Celebration with a dinner and silent auction. Guests will enjoy dinner from Los Taquitos, and can purchase Borderland’s Brewery drinks while tapping their feet to a local mariachi band. Guests will be introduced to the world of children’s homes and street children in Honduras. Festivities will take place from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 3 at The Rosson House, 113 N. 6th St., Phoenix. Tickets are $40 each or $300 for a table for eight and can be purchased at www.tchp.brownpapertickets.com.
