HERE: Ahwatukee AARP free tax assistance

AARP Tax Aide provides free tax assistance and tax preparation for low to moderate income taxpayers, with special attention to people age 60 and older. AARP Tax-Aide volunteers are trained in cooperation with the Internal Revenue Service and offer help with personal income tax returns. This free service will be available Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 4-April 15 at the Pecos Community Center, 17010 S. 48th St.

Available by appointment and to “walk-ins.” There is no one available at the Community Center to make appointments by telephone. To make an appointment, come to Pecos Community Center any Tuesday, Feb. 4–April 15, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. and talk to one of the AARP Tax-Aide volunteers in the lobby across from the Senior Center.

NEAR: Heard Museum Guild short course

Explore the O’odham’s culture, history and art through this three-day course taught by senior Las Guias member Linda Hefter and tribal members from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Feb. 3, 10 and 17 in the Monte Vista Room of the Heard Museum, 2301 N. Central Ave., Phoenix.
