Here: Eric Clapton's Crossroads Guitar Festival coming to AMC Tuesday

Legendary guitarist Eric Clapton shares the stage with some of the greatest artists in the world during a star-studded concert on Tuesday, July 27, in more than 475 movie theaters nationwide, including AMC Ahwatukee 24, 4915 E. Ray Road.

Presented by NCM Fathom and Rhino Entertainment, the Eric Clapton Crossroads 2010 special two-hour event will be shown in HD beginning at 7:30 p.m. and will feature historic musical performances from the day-long Crossroads Guitar Festival 2010, which took place in Chicago's Toyota Park on June 26.

Eric Clapton Crossroads 2010 gives fans around the country a chance to experience many of the greatest moments from the legendary day-long festival, including performances by Clapton, ZZ Top, Steve Winwood, BB King, Jeff Beck, Vince Gill, Sheryl Crow, Buddy Guy, John Mayer, Bill Murray and many others. Theater audiences will gain exclusive backstage VIP access to behind-the-scenes footage and candid interviews with the performers, including an introduction by Clapton himself.

Tickets are $15 for the in-theater event and are available at the box office and online at www.fathomevents.com.

 

Near: Special performance, book signing by Jana Mashonee

Jana Mashonee, one of the biggest names in the Native music world, will give a special performance and sign her new book during Sizzlin' Summer Saturdays July 24 at the Heard Museum, 2301 N. Central Ave. The official launching of her new book will be at 2 p.m.

Mashonee is a Grammy nominee and eight-time Native American Music Award winner in every major category including Artist of the Year. Her young adult book, American Indian Story - The Adventures of Sha'kona, is based on her bestselling album of the same name. After a short musical performance and discussion, she will sign copies of the book, which will be on sale as a book or book/CD combination.

From exciting music and dance performances to an extravaganza of hands-on activities, artist demonstrations and free goody bags, Sizzlin' Summer Saturdays gives kids and families a cool and creative way to spend Saturdays in July. Remaining events will take place 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 24 and 31.

Everyone gets in free on Target Free Sizzlin' Summer Saturdays, thanks to a grant from Target.
