‘Sounds of spring'

Valley favorite the Phoenix Children's Chorus concludes its record-breaking season with a concert celebrating the spirit and joy of youth with the "Sounds of Spring." Performances are Saturday, May 21 at 7 p.m. at Pinnacle Presbyterian Church, 25150 N. Pima Road in Scottsdale and Sunday, May 22 at 4 p.m. at Mesa Arts Center's Ikeda Theater, 1 N. Main St. Tickets are $20, $17.50 and $10 at www.pcchorus.org and are on sale now.

The concert will feature all 300 members of the Phoenix Children's Choir performing a variety of songs from around the world including "Like the Beat of a Drum" by Jay Althouse, "Heal the World" by Michael Jackson, "Rhythm of Rain" by Jerry Estes, "Anything is Possible" the music of Ringling Brothers Circus and "Ev'ry Time I Feel the Spirit," a song by Rollo Dilworth which was commissioned this year by a group of 40 children's choirs from across the country including the Phoenix Children's Choir.

All 300 choristers will join together to sing "Praise His Holy Name" by Keith Hampton written for the 30th anniversary of the Voices of Melody and "Why We Sing" by Greg Gilpin.
