The Phoenix Symphony continues its APS Pops Series with a concert reminiscent of the USO Tours of the 1940s in "Boogie Woogie Pops" on May 27 and 28 at Symphony Hall.

Loras John Schissel, senior musicologist at the Library of Congress and former military officer, will conduct the performance. Schissel and The Phoenix Symphony will bring audiences a celebration of America and Americana.

"Boogie Woogie Pops" will bring together the inspirational works of American wartime songwriters and composers and the elegance of the Phoenix Symphony. Schissel will conduct performances featuring hits by Duke Ellington, George Gershwin and more.

In anticipation of Memorial Day, the performance will be a lively tribute to the current, past and future men and women of United States Armed Forces.

The performance will take place at 8 p.m. on May 27 and May 28. Tickets for "Boogie Woogie Pops" start at $18 and can be purchased by calling the Phoenix Symphony Box Office at (602) 495-1999 or by visiting www.phoenixsymphony.org.

Another highlight of The Phoenix Symphony's APS Pops Season, includes "Live & Let Die" (June 10-11).
