This month, more than 80 freshman and sophomores from Betty Fairfax High School in Laveen will participate in an intensive eight-week curriculum based program called "Kaleidoscope" presented by ASU Gammage. Since 1994, Kaleidoscope a nationally recognized and awarded program educates and exposes students who might not otherwise have the opportunity to experience live Broadway theater.

During the eight-week program, the Laveen students will work closely with ASU Gammage staff and with school administrators and teachers to explore the historical and sociological aspects of the Broadway show Fiddler on the Roof.

The students will partake in lessons revolving around the show's themes including tradition and family, the persecution of the Jewish community and the wave of Jewish immigration into America in the early 1900s. Students will attend FIDDLER at ASU Gammage, and have the opportunity to meet members of the cast and crew and learn about their professional and educational backgrounds, providing students with an unforgettable theater experience.

For more information about getting your school or students involved in future Kaleidoscope programs, call (480) 965-5062.
