After moving just a handful of years ago from his home state of Kentucky, singer Ryan Hunt found success in Arizona, and is preparing to release his new album nationwide on Tuesday.

Hunt, 34, also serves as the worship pastor for North Hill Church in Phoenix, where he and his wife, Jennifer, aim to spread a message of hope.

“This is the first tour we’ve done together,” Hunt said. “Our hearts just want people to see that they have hope when they are going through rough times.”

While Hunt has been touring for the past two weeks in numerous states, Jennifer is also on tour promoting her book that discusses recovery from sexual abuse, called “The Hope Journey.”

During the tour, Hunt recorded a music video and is in the process of planning shows for Arizona during the winter.

“I’ve always wanted my music to be meaningful to people,” said Hunt, who gets his inspiration by the storytelling styles of Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson.

Coming from a musical family, Hunt was constantly surrounded by music. He grew up listening to the melancholy artists he mentioned, though admitting he was always “more aggressive” in his own music.

As his musical style has shifted slightly with age, adding that he likes to experiment with the singer/songwriter genre, he hasn’t forgotten his bluegrass roots.

“It’s grown me as a musician, and I think it paid off,” Hunt said.

His album, “Control,” will be released Oct. 9 nationwide.
