Mike Haasis, a professional guitar player and guitar teacher in Ahwatukee Foothills, has recently released an original CD, "Songs My Guitar Taught Me," featuring several different musical styles.

"There is rock, rockabilly, reggae, and an acoustic finger-picking style instrumental," Haasis said. "These are also all the styles I teach my students at my studio in Ahwatukee."

Haasis has said that the album can be comparable to Tom Petty meets the Beach Boys. Haasis wrote all but one of the songs on the album, and found inspiration from playing shows at local coffee shops.

"Overall, I tried to give this CD a warm, kind of 1960s and early 1970s vibe," he said.

The album took about a year to complete and is available for hard copy or for download on an Internet site called CD Baby.

"The CD has been online for about four months now and has been pretty successful so far, so I am excited to see if this success continues," Haasis said.

He also teaches guitar at the Dry Creek Guitar Studio located in the Foothills. To schedule a private lessons with Haasis, call (480) 759-1025 for more information.
