If you’re a mom with kids back in school and you’re ready to sit back, relax and have a night for yourself, then “Mom’s Nite Out” is the place to be.

“This is a casual event. It doesn’t matter if you have spit-up on your shirt. It’s a time for moms to get together and enjoy time for themselves, bring their girlfriends with them and meet new friends,” says coordinator and mother of two, Wendy Wright.

The Thursday, Aug. 15, event will be hosted at Buffalo Wild Wings in Gilbert and includes giveaways, food and drink specials, and an opportunity to get out of the house and mingle.

There will be no charge for the event or to enter its raffle for giveaways. In the past, giveaways have included a family four-pack of tickets to Sea Life Arizona, a water filtration system, spa goodies and items handmade by local moms.

“Every event is different. One time we had so many things to give away that every mom went home with several prizes,” Wright says.

Many of the giveaways for Thursday’s get-together have been prepared by Wright herself. There are about 15 to 20 items to give away, including items for the home and garden.

Local children’s author and “Mom’s Nite Out” supporter, Hayley Rose, will also be at the event with her new book, “Do’s and Don’ts.”

Fifty to 75 moms typically attend, and Wright says there are always new faces in the crowd.

“Mom’s Nite Out” happens four times per year, but with the kiddos back in school, the August function is the most anticipated, according to Wright.

She started “Moms Nite Out” in May 2011 after receiving an email about a similar event hosted by Maria Bailey, CEO of BSN Media in Florida, encouraging other women to host their own social gatherings for mothers. Disappointed that there wasn’t something like this closer to her, Wright took initiative to begin hosting the quadrennial event.
