Superstition Arts & Cultural Alliance (SACA) and Dreams and Legends Gallery have announced their selection of Liz Nicklus as February's Superstition Artist of the month.
Liz Nicklus is an award winning painter, mixed media and mosaic artist who recently relocated her studio to Apache Junction, Arizona, moving from Millville, NJ. Her newest paintings blend the fracturing of space inherent in the mosaic process with exaggerated color to create a dance of pigments, texture and movement on canvas. First and foremost a colorist, both her paintings and mosaic installations consist of patterns unified by complex color relationships. She has taught painting, mixed media and mosaics throughout the nation. Her work can be seen in public and private collections throughout the world.
"I began my journey as an artist as a painter," says Liz, "but fell in love with mixed media mosaics early in my career. Painting taught me the joy of color and movement, and through mosaics I became fascinated with the intimate and intriguing relationships between fractured spaces. My search has been for integration between the two mediums. I want my viewers to be energized by my paintings, and to lose themselves in the pathways of patterns and colors. "
As the Artist of the Month, a selection of Liz's paintings will be on exhibit during February at the Dreams and Legends of the Superstitions Gallery, located at 2260 N Apache trail / highway 88 | Apache Junction, AZ 85119. Owners Ernest and Janice Imbeau invite the public to visit their website at http://www.dreamsandlegendsart.com/ for directions to their gallery and open hours.
