The same local dance company that takes audiences deep into vampire territory each autumn with its acclaimed "A Vampire Tale" is going into uncharted waters.

Scorpius Dance Theatre will present "Dreaming in Water," its first performance at Chandler Center for the Arts on April 13.

A new sensory showcase of original dance, aerial arts, film and music, "Dreaming in Water" explores the power of thunder and lightening, the ocean and underwater life, and fictional characters such as water nymphs. An aerial scene using silk recreates ocean life at night, and an aerial bungee scene mimics the movement of jellyfish.

The family friendly performance also includes comical pieces, including a scene where dancers must perform synchronized swimming in a miniature pool.

"Dreaming in Water" will be presented 8 p.m. Saturday, April 13, at Chandler Center for the Arts, 250 N. Arizona Ave. Tickets start at $25 and can be purchased by calling (480) 782-2680 or visiting ChandlerCenter.org.
