Home bakers, take note: An East Valley eatery is looking for your best dessert recipe, and it could benefit a needy cause near and dear to your heart.

The winner of the Flancer’s fifth annual Dessert Baking Contest will have his or her creation put on the menu and get to pick a charity to benefit from the dessert. That charity will receive $1.50 every time the dessert is sold at Flancer’s locations in Mesa and Gilbert for one year. The winning baker also receives a trophy and a $100 Flancer’s gift certificate.

To enter, send your original recipe, a photo (not required), a brief description of why your dessert is so good, and the name of your favorite charity via email to jeff@flancers.com.

If your entry is selected, Flancer’s management will ask you to bake a sample for judges on Sunday, Oct. 13, at Flancer’s Mesa restaurant.

Over the years, the contest has raised thousands of dollars for a Mesa girl who needed a heart transplant, Gabriel’s Angels, AZ Brain Food and other charities.
