Start marking your calendars with all the shows you plan to see this season. Arizona Theatre Company has announced its 2013-2014 lineup.
Classic plays like “Around the World in 80 Days” and Oscar Wilde’s “The Importance of Being Earnest” are on tap, and lovers of the offbeat and zany should delight in “Xanadu,” a musical about a Greek muse who is placed in the 1980s to help a young man create the first roller disco.
On the serious side, the company will be performing “The Mountaintop,” a re-imagining of the events leading up to Martin Luther King Jr.’s assassination, and some new but highly-acclaimed stories to the Broadway circuit: “Other Desert Cities,” about a girl writing a tell-all memoir, and “Venus in Fur,” a sexually charged story about an actress on a quest for a lead role.
The first performance of the season doesn’t take place until September, but head to arizonatheatre.org or call (602) 256-6995 to learn more about the plays and purchase tickets or season packages.
All performances take place at Herberger Theater Center at 222 E. Monroe St. in downtown Phoenix.
