If ever there was a time to spread a little love, it’s Valentine’s Day and, so, Phoenix Zoo will dote that day on some of its most unloveable residents — at least, as far as looks go.
The Visayan warty pig and several species of vultures will receive special goodies (think bones and other delicacies) on Feb. 14. The vultures will be treated at 10 a.m., 10:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. The pigs take a turn at 2:30 p.m.
Zoo-goers are invited to watch the pigs and birds receive their valentines, and guests can meet with keepers who will explain the critical roles these less-than-cuddly critters play in their wild ecosystems.
The event is included with regular zoo admission. Phoenix Zoo is at 455 N. Galvin Parkway. For information, call (602) 273-1341 or visit PhoenixZoo.org.
