With weather cooling down in the Valley it’s the perfect time for free concerts in the park.

The concerts in the park are held semi-annually in the spring and fall at Desert Foothills Park, 1010 Marketplace Way. This fall the first concert, of a four-concert series, will be on Sunday, Oct. 14 from 5 to 7:30 p.m.

Randy Fitch, a real estate agent with United Brokers Group, has been involved with the concerts in the park for about 12 years. He has been in charge of organizing them, in conjunction with the city of Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department, for the past five years.

“I just wanted to bring something back to the community,” Fitch said. “It’s a great event. People like it, it’s fun and I like music. It’s just to bring the community together and have a good time. You just have to show up.”

The concerts are free and open to the public. There will be a concession stand selling water, soda and snacks for a local charity.

Dr. Ron and The Painkillers will be performing on Oct. 14. Rock Hard will take the stage on Oct. 21, Incendio will perform on Oct. 28 and Uncorked will play on Saturday, Nov. 3.

“Everyone just brings blankets and chairs and dogs and kids,” Fitch said. “It’s family friendly and just a great outdoor event. Just come and have fun.”
