Becoming successful in any profession can be tough. That holds especially true for those wanting to enter the music industry.

Like many before them and most likely many after, former Ahwatukee Foothills musicians Mitch and Michael Gable struggled at first finding their niche and other band members to complement them.

Michael was in the first graduating class at Desert Vista High School and Mitch graduated from Mountain Pointe High School in 2004.

They played in several different bands around that time before the pieces fell into place with their current band, Echoes the Fall.

They have found success, having just finished a four-song EP and a three-month tour of the country with bands like Drowning Pool and RED.

But they had to put in their time before that success was realized.

"You hit those snags and you don't know if you are going to recover or not," Mitch said. "I've been playing drums for 12 years and just to struggle through the ups and downs, and to be friends with musicians who say, ‘I think I'm done with this, I'm going to get a job I don't like,' it makes you really want it."

Their music videos have been on MTV and their EP can be downloaded from iTunes. The brothers will be returning to the area on Dec. 10 to play a show at Rocky Point Cantina, 1001 E. 8th St. in Tempe.

The homecoming is a meaningful stop at this point in their careers.

"It will be five or six months since we played at home," Mitch said. "This is like the calm before the storm. We are talking to national acts to start another tour in February, but it will be great to be back home and be around the people we grew up with."

Michael plays rhythm guitar and the other members are Trevor Keeling on bass, Myles Byrum on lead guitar, and T-Jay Tipps on vocals.
