Since 2006, IHOP has given away 10.1 million buttermilk pancakes on National Pancake Day each year

"Our business quadruples on this day, which means we must put in extra hours and effort to making sure that each customer that comes in is more than satisfied with their complimentary short stack of buttermilk pancakes, " said Jose Aragon, general manager of the Ahwatukee Foothills location.

IHOPs nationwide participate in the annual event, which is next Tuesday, March 1, from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. The day begins with serving the early risers, then fades into the lunch crowd, and picks up speed when it hits dinnertime.

"All that we ask from those who come in on this day is to consider leaving a small donation in return," Aragon said.

The money raised is donated to Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. Since 2006, IHOP has raised $5.35 million.

"As each year grows in popularity we like to raise the bar even higher and this year our goal is to raise $2 million company-wide," said Aragon, adding that it's an important day for IHOP, and with their staff trippled you know they mean business.

"It is a lot of money raised in one day for one charity and to know we are making such a huge difference makes it that much more worth it," Aragon added.

The Ahwatukee Foothills IHOP is located at 5020 E. Ray Road. Call (480) 598-0887 for more information.
