Celebrate Mesa, a free, family-friendly party in the park, is back this fall with extended hours and a Halloween theme.
Slated for 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, at Red Mountain Soccer Complex, the event will feature rides, carnival games, a rock wall, bounce houses, laser tag, hot air balloon rides, zip lines, pony rides and food trucks.
New this year is a Community Stage, where local talent will perform musical acts, martial arts and other acts. A Main Stage will feature East Valley Institute of Technology student-run radio station KVIT-FM “The Goldmine," tossing out free t-shirts and raffling off prizes like a $100 gift card to Superstition Springs Center.
City departments will host booths with information and fun activities for kids, and vehicles from local police, fire, solid waste and public transportation departments will be on display. The Mesa Air Unit will even do a fly-in.
A parade of costumes begins at 4:45 p.m. Participants are encouraged to arrive no later than 4:30 p.m. to line up.
Admission and most activities are free, but there is a $2 fee to ride the hot air balloon and zip line. The complex is at 905 N. Sun Valley Blvd.
Sponsors of Celebrate Mesa include SRP, KVIT-FM (The Goldmine), City of Mesa, Foundation for Mesa Parks and Recreation, Fry’s Food Stores, Berge Ford and Mesa Recycles.
