Like to hike? Think you could hoof it a hundred miles in as many days? If so, consider the 100 Miles in 100 Days challenge from Maricopa County Parks and Recreation Department.

The campaign will challenge hikers (plus horseback riders and mountain bikers) to rack up miles in county parks, like Usery Mountain Regional Park in Mesa, and along the Maricopa Trail, a path that will eventually link each of the county’s regional parks with approximately 350 miles of trail.

Everyone who completes the program will receive a "100 Miles in 100 Days" T-shirt at celebrations slated for Feb. 28, 2014, at seven parks. Other prizes are up for grabs, too.

The 100 Miles in 100 Days challenge begins Nov. 1. It runs through Feb. 8, 2014. For information, visit maricopa.gov/parks. Brochures will be available for download on the website and pick up at the parks on Nov. 1.
