It's that time of the year again to think about pots of gold, green beer and pounds of corned beef and cabbage.

Keegan's Grill in Ahwatukee Foothills is gearing up for St. Patrick's Day this Thursday.

"St. Patrick's Day has always been a big tradition to celebrate, especially with a restaurant with an Irish name." said Buzz Boyd, general manager of Keegan's. "It takes us over a week to prepare for it."

The restaurant's main event starts at 3:17 p.m. For exactly 31.7 minutes, the green beer will be sold for $1.

Boyd noted that Keegan's serves more than 500 pounds of corned beef and cabbage on the Irish holiday, as well as countless amounts of green beer.

The brewer of choice at Keegan's for their famous green beer is Bud Light and it is served to most of the 900 or so customers who turn up on St. Patrick's Day.

According to Boyd, Keegan's spares no details when it comes to atmosphere. "Everything is just green and orange with the Irish flag everywhere, and we have all of our staff dress up for the occasion," he said. "Many brewers even come out and decorate our patio to add to the festive feeling."

Keegan's will also participate in giveaways to celebrate its main event. St. Patrick's Day T-shirts will be randomly handed out to customers throughout the day. According to Boyd, the food and celebrations are talked about year-round by customers.

"This is our 14th St. Patrick's Day and we take a lot of pride in it," he said. "It's our biggest day of the year."
