She might be the first actor in her family, but that hasn’t stopped Sophie Sabatini from building up an impressive resume in a few short years.
The 11-year-old Ahwatukee Foothills resident and Horizon Community Learning Center student will be appearing in an upcoming show that will be played on YouTube with the possibility of being picked up by a cable network.
The show is called “Best Friends” and Sabatini is set to appear in two of the first four episodes.
“It’s a show about two friends who go to Los Angeles following their dream of making it big,” she said. “I play Robin, their neighbor when they get there.”
She described it as a comedy and part of it will be filmed in Queen Creek at the Barn and the other part on Hollywood Boulevard in California.
Sabatini started her acting career at Ahwatukee Children’s Theatre and has since performed in several different productions, including “Jack’s Story.” She starred as the lead role in “Running Free,” an independent movie filmed in the Phoenix area, and she was also in a promotional video for “Nerf Wars” where she and a bunch of other kids got to play with all the different nerf guns.
“That was a blast,” Sabatini said.
To say she has been bitten by the acting bug would be an understatement. Sabatini is constantly auditioning for roles and taking lessons. And it’s all for the opening night, which she says is her favorite moment.
“When I did my first role I was never afraid or nervous about being out there,” Sabatini said. “I always can’t wait for the first night to get here. It’s really exciting.”
Her future goals include winning a role for a Disney Channel show like “Good Luck Charlie,” which Sabatini says is her favorite.
