Need a place to watch this year's Tukee Bowl, other than Desert Vista High School?

The Ahwatukee Foothills YMCA, 1030 E. Liberty Lane, will play host to a first-time-ever tailgating event for the pigskin matchup between DV and Mountain Pointe on Friday, Nov. 7.

Tailgaters will be able to watch the game on big-screen TVs and be greeted with food and drinks. All proceeds generated from the event will go towards the future expansion needs of the YMCA.

Live music will be provided by Dr. Ron and the Painkillers. Tickets are $5 and kids under 5 are free.

The days leading up to the highly anticipated rivalry game will feature several events at DV.

On Wednesday, Nov. 5, the first-ever Ahwatukee Bowl Festival will be held from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. There will be an obstacle course, a climbable rock wall, bungee run, food and bounce house. Wristbands for unlimited ride usage are $10.

The Ahwatukee Foothills YMCA has major plans for expansion in the future. They have plans to construct a Montessori preschool, YKIDZ Youth Center, Teen Center and expand the Fitness Center.

To find out more about the YMCA Tukee Tailgate Party or to purchase tickets, visit www.ahwatukeeymca.org or call Sandra Franks at (480) 759-6762. The event will run from 4 to 10 p.m.

Healthcare reform
In a final push for a sweeping healthcare overhaul, President Barack Obama urged a simple "up-or-down" vote on the legislation. What would your vote be?
Up! Let's get this thing passed already!
The proposals look good on paper, but I'm still hesitant about its execution.
Down. It's time to go back to the drawing board.
