DV and MP weather the rain during graduation

Comments 0 | Recommend 0

Would they, or wouldn't they?

As graduation approached, that was the question Desert Vista and Mountain Pointe administrators wrestled with all day, rain falling and temperatures dropping: Would they move ceremonies indoors?

Ultimately, both schools kept their graduations outdoors, though both moved the name-reading and diploma-receiving portion of the ceremony to the front.

"This is not the weather we would have ordered this evening," MP Principal Brenda Mayberry said in her speech, "but as a Pride family we have weathered many storms, and we will weather this one."

Contingency plans had been hatched by both schools - the plans involved splitting each school's graduation into two sections and limiting each graduate to two guests apiece - but were ill received by parents, who bombarded switchboards with calls pleading to keep the ceremonies outdoors.

Healthcare reform
In a final push for a sweeping healthcare overhaul, President Barack Obama urged a simple "up-or-down" vote on the legislation. What would your vote be?
Up! Let's get this thing passed already!
The proposals look good on paper, but I'm still hesitant about its execution.
Down. It's time to go back to the drawing board.
